Loudoun’s Third Annual Girl emPower Summit Centers on Breaking Boundaries and Embracing Change
ASHBURN, VA (August 23, 2022)—The Loudoun Coalition on Women and Girls (LCWAG) announced its third annual Girl emPower Summit, which will be held at the Northern Virginia Community College’s Loudoun Campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
The leadership conference is designed by young women, for young women, with goals of inspiration, collaboration and networking. Sophomore Mahsa Riar, the Summit chair and lead youth organizer, is excited to host the event in person for the first time.
“Our goal with this year’s Summit is to bring together young women from every corner of our community, to be energized and rise together,” Riar explained. “In a world with constant fluctuation, we have an opportunity to embrace innovation and build a better future.”
All girls in middle and high school are invited to register for no cost, with lunch, snacks, swag bags and door prizes provided by generous sponsors and community partners.

The theme for this year’s summit is “Breaking Boundaries and Embracing Change,” featuring a keynote address from Emma G., a New Zealand-born, award-winning singer/songwriter, youth worker, and TEDx speaker, who is on a mission to save the world one song at a time.
The Girl emPower Summit will also feature the following topics and speakers:

“Preparing for Your Future” with Nancy Yarahuan, Senior Educational Advisor, Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
“We are in the midst of a turning point for our society, and we need strong female leaders who are ready to steer us in the right direction,” LCWAG Chair Angela Mitchell said. “The Girl emPower Summit is a very intentional effort to help our girls understand that they have the answers we need. The future is theirs.”
